A military court has sentenced warrant officer V.G. Chernomaz to 10 years in prison for killing a resident of the village of Dyshne-Vedeno southeast of Groznyy, Ayub Salatkhanov, in 2000. The investigation into the case lasted for five years. He was detained in 2005. Thanks to the efforts of the Chechen branch of the anti-torture committee and impartiality of the military court, Chernomaz was found guilty and will serve his sentence in a high security prison.
